Primary Quarterly Activities: Still Confused?

Here's what I did. I talked to my Stake Primary President
who had counseled with our Stake President.
Bam.
Done.
End of Question.

If you have questions you can talk to your leaders. If your PRIESTHOOD leaders are confused they can call Primary Church headquarters.

Office of the Primary General Presidency
76 North Main Street
Salt Lake City, UT 84150-6030
Direct Number: (801) 240-2391
Toll Free (takes you to an operator): (800) 453-3860

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your PRIESTHOOD LEADER is confused, THEY can call. If they got 10 million calls, I'm sure it'd be wasting a bit of time and also when we have questions we need to go to our leaders!!!!

On the church website it clearly states there are no more quarterly activities. But as you said, I'm sure if people still wanted to do one or as a ward council they felt it would benefit the kids, they could put one with their priesthood leaders approval.

As mentioned by Jen, the church website says no more quarterly activities. See link: http://lds.org/pa/display/0,17884,7701-1,00.html

Funny, my stake primary president told me that we can call the church headquarters any time we have a question about anything. I don't think it states anywhere that it has to be a priesthood holder to call them.

Truth be told Anonymous... I called just to double check because I don't want to be posting bad info and they had a message CLEARLY stating not to call but to have priesthood leaders call.

The old Faith in God program had quarterly activities. That is what it is talking about in that section. That is no longer part of the new Faith in God program. The girls are to meet twice a month instead of quarterly. Again, this has nothing to do with the entire Primary Program, just Faith in God program.

On the church website it states nothing of "there are no more quarterly activities." What it does say is "Do we still have quarterly activity days?
No. They are no longer part of the program. The quarterly activity days referred to on page 18 in the Faith in God guidebooks are no longer a part of the program. " Again, talking only of the Faith in God program.

I read on the church website opening/closing exercises have been eliminated. Can anyone confirm I've understood this correctly...so no more talks to be given by the children, opening songs, prayers when will they happen? I'm a rather confused Primary President right now on a small island whose branch president knows nothing either so please help :)

Cupcake Crazy Jem, your answer is on p.91 of the new handbook under "Sharing Time." They have not done away with talks, etc., but I guess just no longer use the term "opening/closing exercises." It all just got wrapped under the term of "Sharing Time."

In regards to the whole quarterly activity dilemma, I think the confusing part is how they are terming it. In our ward at least, we always called them quarterly activities. In the old green handbook, however, they called it "Activity Days," and then called what we call "Activity Days" (for the 8-11 yr olds) "Achievement Days." So my assumption is that when they say on LDS.org that we no longer have Quarterly Activity Days as read in the Faith in God book, it must mean what we call Quarterly Activities. Because we know they're still meeting twice a month for the Faith in God program.

As someone else mentioned, we are still allowed to have Primary Activities if we as a Ward Council feel it is a benefit to the Ward members. Check out what it says under 13.2.1 in the new handbook about activities for specific organizations..."When an activity is for a specific organization or group in the ward, it is planned under the direction of the priesthood or auxiliary leaders who are responsible for the organization."

We were told to use our chain of command {so to speak} They dont want everyone calling. We should use our ward resources than stake... for ques. we have and than the stake or bishop will contact headquarters.
