Easy Mother's Day Gift for Primary or Nursery

I wanted something easy to do for our Nursery kids for their moms, so I'm going to print out this picture at Costco and frame it with dollar store frames.

 

We'll give moms and/or special women in the children's lives a bag full of gummy bears.
Remember, not every kid has a mother who is present in their lives.
Be sensitive.

 

We'll have the kids color a picture of a teddy bear.

(older kids could draw one themselves with step by step instructions like the following) 

On their coloring sheets will be the words :
(I just google search and print out so kids can choose what they like)
I love my mom BEARY much because__________________
and we will write their answers for them.

Simple Mother's Day Activity and Not So Simple, but still doable, Mother's Day Gift

I'm pretty big on "time". I love things that encourage me to spend time with my kids. With that said, I decided on sending the kids home with a roll the dice game, flower version... "Dear Mother All Flowers Remind Me of You" (CS #202).

If you've never played a roll the dice drawing game, it's pretty simple. On the first roll, depending on what number you roll, you'll draw the center of the flower. You'll also need to see what you need to talk about depending on the number rolled! You do this 4 times until your flower is complete. Do as many flowers as you'd like together!!

We'll also have the children plant a little flower for their mother/special lady in a cup. Another gift I was toying around with... but just don't have the "umph" to put together for 80+ kids is based off a quote by Elder Holland. If I had less kids or was an Activity Day Leader it might be more doable!

I made a coupon book, and thought that the children could make a simple relaxing sugar scrub.

 

You'd need some sort of small container, sugar, and dawn dish soap. The children could easily mix together the ingredients.

Also, a nice eye mask that that older children could make (out of duct tape!!) and add a ribbon to.

Put everything together in a small plastic bag and there you have it!

2012 LDS Primary Mother's Day Gift Idea

Do you ever surf the web (is that even what it's called anymore? I'm stuck in the 90's.) and see all the sites with the cute pictures and fancy backgrounds. Yeah. Sorry. I'm not willing to put in that much effort and time for what I deem "fluff". Not that "fluff" is bad, I actually really like fluff... however, it's just not my thang.

This is an activity for primary children to do with their "special lady". I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I don't think kids should ever feel bad on mother's day if they don't have a mother. BABESTER. Hence the "special lady" bit.

This is really easy and cheap to put together. For each child you'll need:

2 paper plates

2 popsicle sticks

1 poem/instruction sheet (print on cardstock preferably for durability)

1 balloon (not blown up!!)

1 small bag of Hershey Hugs (or kisses)

-Crayons and tape to decorate the paddles and a small clip to put everything together for the children to take home-

Explain to the children that this is an activity where they will hit the balloon with their special lady, and after 5 hits back and forth they'll ask a question to get to know each other better. Have the children decorate their paddles with their very best work! Put all the items together with a clip!! Hopefully this activity can bring some happiness to homes!

Back and forth,

Let's play a game

it won't take long!

I did add a small attribution in the corner, hopefully it won't detract from the message. I just never want these things to be sold for money. God gives me ideas, I write them down, hooray for things that are free!

Wow. Really Sofia. The Wednesday before Mother's Day.... and you're just posting now?

I'm sorry.
I hope this can be of help to someone who perhaps may be in a last minute pickle.

Materials Needed: Paper, cotton swabs, yellow ribbon to tie around paper and lemon juice (small containers/paper cups for the lemon juice)

In primary have the children use the lemon juice and swabs to write a secret message/ secret picture to their special lady. Have them roll it as a scroll and tie with ribbon. Explain that they will need to go home with their special lady (mother, grandma, aunt, sister... whoever :) ) and put it by a toaster*********(See update) or candle flame to see the message! Make a practice one for them to see!

Have lemon bars or a lemon cupcake with the following poem for the children to take home for their special lady....

(By yours truly, Sofia Lykes... feel free to use, just don't sell to a publisher or say you wrote it because when we're in heaven I will ask/hint at Heavenly Father to use a taser on you as your punishment . Also notice it doesn't say mother, I just always go the safe route because I'd never want any little ones to feel bad if they don't have a mother at home)

A special surprise for the one I love,
The message is quite out of sight...
But add some warmth and soon you'll see
A small treasure for your delight!

It really is no secret,
You are the best around!
You make each day a joyful one,
Our blessings do abound!

Primary Mother's Day Idea

For Mother's Day this year I am gathering materials for a "Mother's Day Date Night Kit". I will have all the items ready for the children to put into their bag and take home. We have a few children whose mothers have died so I'm labeling the bag "Special Lady Date Night Kit".

The kit will include:
- A DO NOT disturb sign to hang on the door
- Bag of Popcorn
- M & M's
- Activity Description Sheet
- Fill in the blank on nice card stock You are one special lady because ________________!

The Activity Description Sheet says:

You're one special lady and I'm one special child!
Let's play a game with M&M's bright and wild!
Pick a candy, any color will do.
And answer the question through and through!

Then once you're done, toss in the air.
Can the other one catch? Or will it land in her hair?
Have fun and be silly - get to know each other well!
And to each other - I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, don't forget to tell!

Red- What is one of your favorite things to do with me?
Orange- Where would you want to go anywhere in the world with me and why?
Yellow- What do you see us doing together in 10 years?
Green- Name 3 reasons why you love me.
Blue- Ask me any question you like!
Brown- Hum a tune and see if I can guess it!

* Are you having fun and there's still more time? Pop some popcorn and whip out a board game!
